Accommodation

Staying in campus accommodation

Campus accommodation is now fully booked for the duration of the conference. These are fairly basic single occupancy rooms with private en-suite bathrooms and access to a shared kitchen (although not equipped with pots and pans etc). To minimise environmental impact, only rooms occupied for 5+ days are routinely serviced (cleaning, linen change); if guests need extra towels, toiletries etc, these can be requested at reception.

If you have questions about your campus accommodation booking, please email: GuestBookings@sussex.ac.uk Cc-ing mah-research@sussex.ac.uk.

The campus accommodation is located in Bodiam in the East Slope halls of residence (see campus map here, residences map here, and on Google Maps here).

The nearest car park is the Science Car Park 1 (see grid ref 4C on the campus map, and on Google Maps here), about 3 minutes walk from Bodiam Reception.

The walk from Falmer station to the campus accommodation is about 10 minutes, and from the accommodation to the Jubilee building is also about 10 minutes.

Checking in/out of campus accommodation

If you have booked campus accommodation, you will receive an automated email 48 hours before check-in, with instructions and information about your booking.

Delegates will need to check in/out at the East Slope Bodiam 24-hour reception desk (see campus map here, residences map here, and on Google Maps here).

Address: East Slope Reception, Boiler House Hill, University of Sussex, Falmer, Brighton, East Sussex, BN1 9RJ. Email: GuestBookings@sussex.ac.uk

You will need to present some form of official ID card/document, e.g. passport, driving license, national identity card. If you do not have this type of ID, please contact GuestBookings@sussex.ac.uk Cc-ing mah-research@sussex.ac.uk.

Luggage

Luggage at King’s College London

There will be a luggage room (King’s, Room K0.20) with attendant open from 9:00 until 19:00. Please ask at reception when you arrive and our helpers will direct you to the room. Please do not leave valuables and ensure that you pick up your bag(s) before 19:00.

Luggage at the University of Sussex

Important: There are no luggage storage facilities at the residences. If you arrive earlier than 15:00, we recommend you report initially to the East Slope reception desk, in case your room is ready early (possible, but cannot be guaranteed).

Alternatively, the conference team can store your luggage in a room in the Jubilee building, during the main conference days (i.e. Friday 4th to Wednesday 9th inclusive, but not overnight). You may bring your luggage to the conference registration desk in Jubilee, where you will be asked to write your name, phone number and approximate collection time, on stickers to affix to your belongings. The latest luggage collection time is 17:30 every day, except Tuesday 8th (closing drinks reception), when you may collect luggage up to 18:30.

NB. While the team will make every effort to look after your luggage, they are not liable for its loss or damage, so you will be leaving your belongings with them at your own risk.

Campus accommodation breakfast

The price is £72.60 per night and includes breakfast (NB. your booking email will by default state ‘room only’ – the accommodation team are unable to edit this, so please be assured that breakfast is included). Delegates staying in campus accommodation will be given a breakfast voucher to use at the ‘Eat Central’ canteen in Bramber House (located between the halls of residence and the Jubilee Building, which is where most of the conference will take place).

See our ‘Food’ page for further information about eating on/off campus.
